Each Student will:

Grades:
Attendance 10%
Homework 10% (4th quarter there will not be a homework score.
Tests 80% Practice Tests/Final Project will be 90% of the grade)
Overall Grade 100%
Tests:
There will be chapter tests and a quarter final given each quarter. The quarter final counts as two test scores. If you know that you will be missing a test because of a school activity, vacation, or any other reason, arrangements must be made ahead of time to take the test. If you have an excused absence on the day of a test, you will have at most one week to make it up. If the absence is not excused the score will be a ZERO! At the end of the quarter your lowest test grade will be dropped.
Students earn points on tests by demonstrating what they have learned. Students must show the steps necessary to calculate each answer. The required work will be demonstrated through class lectures.
Homework:
Homework will be assigned each class day. All the assignments for a chapter will be collected the day of the chapter test. Please use your assignments to review and prepare for the chapter tests. Collecting all homework assignments for the chapter is for your benefit. Don’t let yourself fall behind -- it’s very difficult to “catch-up”!
Each problem on every assignment must show:
1) The original problem
2) The steps necessary to calculate the solution (if a calculator is used – sketch a picture of the calculator screen)
Each day’s assignment will be worth 10 points. You must show a written attempt for every problem in order to get full homework points.
ATTENDANCE:
Educational progress is a result of regular attendance, so students are expected to be in class on time and prepared in accordance with the JHS attendance policy. Students will be awarded ten points for each day of class. Five points will be deducted if the student is tardy (less than 10 min.), seven points will be deducted if the student is way-late (10-30 min.), and no points will be earned if the student is more than 30 minutes late or unexcused absence. Additional points may also be deducted for off-task behavior. A SLUFF will lower the end of the quarter grade by one full grade (i.e. B to C)
In this class, you will be expected to take advantage of the Early Enrichment schedule. The ways we will use the time in the morning are as follows:
Anything not addressed in this disclosure will be handled on an individual basis.
Cell Phone Policy: Each student needs to understand that cell phone use during class is not allowed at any time unless permission is given by the teacher to use for special circumstances. This includes making calls, receiving calls, any type of text messaging, picture taking, etc. It is expected that cell phones will be turned off (not just on vibrate) and put away during class time. If a student violates this policy they will be asked to give up their cell phone to the teacher for the remainder of class for the first offense, and if a second offense occurs the cell phone will be confiscated and given to an administrator. iPods, MP3 players, etc. are permitted while a student is working on his/her assignment as long as it does not disrupt the classroom. Otherwise the result in the same actions as described above.
NOTE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS: I will keep the information on Skyward as current as possible, so you can keep an eye on your student’s progress and grade. Please review your student’s grades and attendance periodically through the Jordan High School website.
